BYLAWS
WOMEN OF PURPOSE
Incorporation Date: January 11th, 2025
Purpose/Vision: To commit to the empowerment of a group of women by embracing them with love, encouragement, as well as, supporting their endeavors, dreams and goals with mutual respect.
Mission: To work as a unit to uplift and revitalize our communities to be better places to live/work through our charitable efforts and acts of volunteerism.
Qualifications: The willingness to commit your time to building a cohesive group, to share your knowledge in your skillset and the motivation to be part of a movement that fosters self betterment in order to be of service to others.
The following Bylaws and rules governing participation as a member of Women of Purpose are as follows:
1) Any information that is shared within our group settings and/or in our group meetings should NEVER be discussed outside of the group with others, as well as, amongst one another individually. The only exception would be to discuss the concern of another member. Share only those things that you feel comfortable sharing in a group setting during our meetings.
2) Please refrain from using language that is derogatory, insensitive or argumentative when engaging in communication with one another or others during group meetings. This is to include any/all settings where we are present as a group.
3) Everyone’s opinions, suggestions and ideas are of value and each person will have the opportunity to voice them while being heard with respect from the other members. No member will hold the group hostage with extra baggage, gossip, or unnecessary discussions that do not pertain to the group dynamic as a whole.
4) Each member will sponsor at least one meeting per year at their home or place of choice. The member that hosts for the month is not obligated to make any extra expenditures as part of their hosting responsibilities.
5) No member will post any pictures of another member of the group, any clients outside of our group or persons participating in any of our workshops without the verbal/written consent of said persons. At all times, we will respect the privacy of each person in order to maintain confidentiality and trust both within and outside of the group. It is strongly recommended that you get permission from any individuals before taking a photo or producing a video. The media officer will be responsible for gathering any pictures that will be posted on any of our social media pages with respect to any promotions, marketing or displays of social events.
6) Our gatherings are held every 2nd Saturday of the month unless rescheduled by unanimous decision of all members. Please make note when planning personal events of the dates for our meetings. All members of Women of Purpose are expected to attend all meetings and gatherings that are decided upon by our group members. However, emergencies and unexpected events will occur and absences will be addressed on an individual basis with understanding and support. Each member is allowed to miss (2) two in-person meetings within a(12) twelve month period. Two or more missed meetings may result in termination from the group. Please note that this is a commitment that we all look forward to in order to maintain the effective cohesiveness of the group.
7) The meeting time is from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and each member is expected to arrive on time. Everyone’s time is valuable and we want to show respect for those who have spent quality time in preparation of information vital to our group's operation.
8) In order to maintain a sense of diplomacy, there will be a standard format for each meeting, as follows:
A. Each member will spend a few minutes sharing their feelings, express any issues that may need support, or discuss any accomplishments that they have achieved since the last meeting.
B. The secretary will give a recap of old business.
C. The treasurer will share the financial report (quarterly)
D. The president will discuss new business and follow the agenda set forth for the meeting.
E. New information, event planning, suggestions, ideas, etc.will be discussed.
F. Close with a group prayer.
9) Each member will be voted into a position that befits their skillset.
A. President - maintains guidelines and group structure, oversee other officers and will make the final decision when there is a tie during voting.
B. Secretary - records, documents minutes from meetings, copy documents and responsible for any outside correspondence.
C. Financial Officer - (Treasurer) responsible for maintaining bookkeeping of group finances, provides information of status of finances quarterly, responsible for keeping records of dues paid by each member.
D. SocialMedia Coordinator - retains/maintains group pictures, visual/written documentation reflecting group activities, social media posting.
E. Special Event Coordinator - responsible for organizing/planning events, prepares documents used to present on behalf of group.
F. Vice President - helps president with administrative duties.
G. Outreach Officer - responsible for connecting with organizations to partner with or serve in a charitable manner.
H. Research officer - responsible for gathering information concerning any organization, project, plan or volunteer event that we are interested in for service.
10)The membership dues are $25.00 per month to be paid on or before the 21st of the month. This is considered to be the foundation for our group which allows us to function, independently as an organization when we are prepared to become a non-profit entity. The fee that is paid by each member will be deposited in our account with Truist bank and will be used for activities, trips, gatherings, purchase of items for donations, charitable events and to offset the cost of a yearly retreat. Each member is granted only a 2 month grace period for non payment of dues if they are experiencing financial hardship.
11) Be mindful of information that is shared in our group text. Please respect the time, privacy and sanctity of the group chat by keeping our posts positive, supportive and encouraging. Do not use the group chat for idle conversation or share an overabundance of information, the group chat is used to communicate important information to the group as a whole.
12) In the event that personal circumstances may result in non-attendance, a member has the option of taking a leave of absence for 6 months in lieu of dropping out of the group. After the 6 month period, the President will re-evaluate the status of the group member in order to see if the member will return or will no longer be a part of the group. During the leave of absence period, the member is not required to pay any dues. We ask that the member remain in contact with the group members so that we can chart your progress or be of any assistance during this time.
